This stunning piece which I believe to be genuine cold-painted bronze, probably dating to the early 20th century. The condition is very good with most of the paint in-tact and very little chipping or discolouration. It is possible that this is a quality old reproduction of an earlier piece, and is in the style of the Austrian bronzes so prized by collectors. There is no doubt that it is excellent quality casting, and a very charming piece.
 
It measures 20cm from base to tree tip, and 12cm across at the widest point. There are two hares to the base and a red squirrel atop the trunk - the animals are very well cast, pointing to it being a real quality piece. Unfortunately I can find no makers marks.
