This is such a special piece, an inkwell in the form of an oyster shell. Beautifully cast and flanked by two shells, which are possibly intended to hold ink pens as there is a hole in each. The inkwell is mounted on a wooden base which does show signs of age. The piece probably dates to end of the 19th century. The hinge is in good order and the inkwell has a liner. A stunning desk piece, unusual collectors item, or a special gift for someone who loves seashells and the UK shoreline. Measures 16cm by 9cm.  For more information or photogrpahs, please get in touch.
