A truly beautiful art nouveau inkwell which I believe to be Austrian in origin. It has a wonderful scrolling floral design, with the whiplash curves so typical of the movement. A large flower sits behind the lidded inkwell, which retains its original liner still stained with ink from its last user. I find this to be a charming piece which would look beautiful adorning the desk of a writer or artist. The hinge is in very good working condition so it is a perfectly useable item. Some of the paint is a little chipped in places but this just proves its age and originality. Measures approximately 22cm across at the widest points. Marked to the base although I haven't been able to trace the maker. For more photographs or information, please get in touch.
