Bladnoch, Dumfries & Galloway

I am a wildlife artist and printmaker, based in the riverside hamlet of Bladnoch in south-west Scotland. I take inspiration from my wonderful surroundings here in Dumfries & Galloway,
with its rugged coastline, rich pastures, and deeply beautiful forests which provide natural habitats for so many different species of wildlife.
I have a lifelong love of birds, and they provide the main inspiration for my work – which is created using both relief and intaglio printing processes. Self-taught and learning all the time, my practice is developing to include an exploration of traditional etching processes which give my work the softer, time-worn look of old prints and book illustrations.
My love of old books, antiques and treasure-hunting is reflected in the items for sale in the Bladnoch shop. As well as second-hand natural history books, with illustrations by some of the artists who inspire my work - Agnes Miller Parker, C.F. Tunnicliffe and Barbara Greg to name a few, you will find; stunning wildlife photography by local artist Sean Clayton, sumptuous handwoven scarves by Wendy Erskine at Eden Textiles, beautiful handcrafted silver jewellery by Silver Wren & Oak, and many other treasures including antiques, vintage jewellery and collectables.
I grew up in the big-sky, flat fens of East Anglia before moving to Sussex to study English Literature. I settled in Derbyshire to start a family but relocated to this very special place after falling in love with it on a summer holiday. The Bladnoch shop is named for my very special grandmothers, Iris and Win.
